NWFSC Fall Production Audition Notice

Mattie Kelly Arts Center

8/3/2017 - The Northwest Florida State College Division of Humanities, Fine and Performing Arts is pleased to announce open auditions for its Fall 2017 production of 2013 Pulitzer Prize winning play, DISGRACED by Ayad Akhtar and directed by Clint Mahle. Auditions will be Saturday August 26, 2017 at 2:00pm in the Sprint Theater at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center, Niceville Campus.

The play centers on Amir Kapoor, a successful Pakistani-American lawyer, who is rapidly moving up the corporate ladder while distancing himself from his cultural roots. Emily, his wife, is white. She is an artist, and her work is influenced by Islamic imagery. When the couple hosts a dinner party, what starts out as a friendly conversation escalates into something far more damaging. Casting needs are as follows: Amir, mid-thirties; Emily, Amir’s wife, mid-thirties; Abe, Amir’s nephew, early twenties; Jory, African-American female, mid-thirties; and Isaac, Jewish, mid-thirties. The director asks for a prepared one minute dramatic monologue that can be from a play, film, or television show. Rehearsals will run from Monday August 28 with opening night on October 18 and closing October 21. There will also be a Saturday October 7 and a Sunday October 15 rehearsal. For further information contact Clint Mahle at mahlej@nwfsc.edu or call 850-729-6007.
