1/5/2009 - The Hubbard Street Dance Chicago performance scheduled for February 23 at the Mattie Kelly Fine & Performing Arts Center at Northwest Florida State College has been cancelled by the dance company. The group cited the current economic climate and a resulting reduction in the dance company's finances as the reason it is postponing or canceling numerous tour performances, including their performance in Niceville.

"Because touring has been such an important part of Hubbard Street's artistic life and development, it is a decision we made with great seriousness and sadness. We extend our sincere apologies to the audiences and staff of the Mattie Kelly Arts Center," said the Chicago based contemporary dance company in a statement to the arts center's management.

For patrons who purchased tickets to the Hubbard Street event, the Box Office at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center will issue a credit of $25 per ticket purchased to patrons or a refund. The box-office credit may be used indefinitely at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center toward the purchase of tickets for any show in the current or future seasons. As a convenience to patrons, the credit will not expire until used in its entirety. Patrons should contact Jeanette Shires, Associate Director of the Mattie Kelly Arts Center at 729-6004 between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday or email her at shiresj@nwfstatecollege.edu to receive their credit or refund.
