NWF State College's 'Dance Facets 2009' Features Local Dancers, Tickets Now on Sale

4/8/2009 - Tickets are now on sale for Northwest Florida State College's ''Dance Facets 2009''. The annual dance production will take place on April 24 & 25 at 7:30 p.m. at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center on the NWF State College Niceville campus. A production of the college's Humanities, Fine and Performing Arts Division, th dance program presents an evening of beauty and grace featuring an eclectic array of musical styles, including Third Day, Richard Strauss, Usher, and Maya Angelou that lend inspiration for the original choreography presented by NWF State College dance students and faculty.

Tickets are $15 adults and $10 for youth age 18 and younger and are available through the Mattie Kelly Arts Center box office in-person, by phone at 850-729-6000, or online at www.mattiekellyartscenter.org.

Forty-three dancers from the local community will perform eight original dance presentations featuring contemporary ballet, modern, jazz, and tap. The visual and audible movement on stage will be enhanced by special lighting effects designed by NWF State College students and staff. The synergistic effect of dramatic music, ethereal lighting and emotional dance culminates to present artistic interpretations about social realities as well as farcical fantasies.

Audiences can expect to be energized and entertained with dance segments entitled: DDR, Revelation, Compassion, Got to Get You - Gotcha!, Who I Am, Rain, Sea of Love, and Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme.

All proceeds from the event support the Frances Smith Herron Dance Endowment through the college's foundation. The endowment named the NWF State College Dance Studio in memory of the late Frances Herron, a college dance instructor who passed away in August 2006, and the endowment funds dance scholarships, distinguished visiting artists and enhances Dance Facets productions.
