NWFSC Arts Events April 2010 - Variety of Free & Ticketed Events Scheduled

4/14/2010 - The Humanities, Fine & Performing Arts Division at Northwest Florida State College will host a series of free and ticketed events throughout April and early May. Most events will be held at the college's Mattie Kelly Fine & Performing Arts Center on the college's Niceville campus at 100 College Blvd. Free events do not require a ticket. To purchase tickets for those events which have a fee, go online to www.mattiekellyartscenter.org, call the Mattie Kelly Arts Center box office at 729-6000 or stop by Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For ticketed events, currently enrolled NWFSC students are admitted free of charge with a current student ID. For information, contact the box office.

NWFSC Madrigals & Belle Voci Concert April 16 -Tyler Recital Hall

The NWF State College Madrigals, a select 26-voice mixed ensemble of scholarship vocalists under the direction of Allison Everitt, and Belle Voci, a select 14-voice student women's ensemble under the direction of Lois Van Dam, will perform a free Spring Concert Friday April 16 at 7:30 pm in the Tyler Recital Hall of the Mattie Kelly Arts Center on the Niceville campus of Northwest Florida State College. The popular vocal groups will present selections ranging from Renaissance to Vocal Jazz and Gospel. For information, contact Lois Van Dam at 729-6009.

Flute Furioso Concert April 18 - at NWFSC Tyler Recital Hall

The Northwest Florida State College flute ensemble "Flutes Furioso" will present a free concert on Sunday, April 18, at 2:00pm, in Tyler Recital Hall of the Mattie Kelly Arts Center on the Niceville campus of NWFSC in Niceville. Music will include original works for flute choir as well as arrangements of popular tunes. Both concerts are free and open to the public. Flutes Furioso consists of the area's best flutists, including both students and adults. It uses many of the members of the flute family, including piccolo, concert flute, alto flute, and bass flute. Schola Cantorum April 18, 19, & 26 - Free Concerts at Area Churches

The Northwest Florida State College's Schola Cantorum, translated school of singing, will hold a series of free concerts Sing to Me Heavens, comprised of sacred selections which include several gospel spirituals, on Sunday, April 18 at 6:00pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Niceville; Monday, April 19 at 7:00pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Crestview; and Monday, April 26 at 7:00pm at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Niceville. The NWFSC Schola Cantorum is comprised of a diverse group of singers of all ages from across the two county area who present music from across the ages. NWF State College Presents "Dance Facets 2010" - April 23 & 24, Mattie Kelly Arts Center Mainstage

The Northwest Florida State College's Humanities, Fine and Performing Arts Division dance program presents Dance Facets 2010 on April 23 & 24 at 7:30 p.m. at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center on the NWF State College Niceville campus. The college's annual dance performance offers an evening of beauty and grace featuring an eclectic array of musical styles, including Leon Minkus, Hans Zimmer and Joshua Bell, Phillip Glass and Ravi Shankar, music from the movie Transformers and an original work composed by Dr. Jeremy Ribando, that lend inspiration for the original choreography presented by NWF State College dance students and faculty. Tickets are on sale now for $15 adults and $10 youth. All proceeds this year will be donated to support the American Red Cross for Haiti.

NWFSC Jazz Ensemble Concert - April 27, Mattie Kelly Arts Center Mainstage

The Jazz Ensemble of Northwest Florida State College will present a free concert of jazz favorites on Tuesday, April 27 at 7:30 pm in the main stage theater of the Mattie Kelly Arts Center on the NWFSC Niceville campus. The Jazz Band is comprised of NWFSC students and community members and is led by Fred Domulot and Tom Latenser. The free concert is a non-ticketed event and seating is on a first come basis. NWFSC Show Choir Season Finale Concert - April 29

NWF State College's talented group of fine and performing arts scholarship students, the Soundsations Show Choir, will perform their season finale concert on April 29 at 7:30 p.m. in the main stage theater at the college's Mattie Kelly Arts Center on the Niceville Campus. Tickets are on sale now for $15 Adults and $10 Youth 18 & under. Currently enrolled NWFSC students are admitted free of charge with a student ID. The performance group will present a lively variety show of song and dance featuring everything from Broadway tunes to gospel.
