Auditions Held Dec. 18 for Shakespeare Comedy, As You Like It

Mattie Kelly Arts Center

12/8/2010 -

Northwest Florida State College will hold open auditions for the college's spring production of Shakespeare's comedy As You Like It, directed by Clint Mahle, on Saturday, December 18 at 2:00 pm, in the Sprint Theater of the Mattie Kelly Arts Center on the Niceville campus. A cast ten men and seven women will be selected for roles portraying characters ages 18 and up. The director asks those who audition to prepare a ten line monologue from a Shakespeare comedy for the audition.

The idyllic Forest of Arden provides the lush backdrop for Shakespeare's glorious romantic comedy of courtiers, clowns, philosophers and provincialsall bewitched by the trials and triumphs of love. As You Like It tells the story of power hungry men exiling their brothers, girls playing guys, and everyone finding love in unexpected places. The firm favourite among Shakespeares comedic works runs the glorious gamut from pastoral romance with cross-dressing and love-notes, to poetry and brilliant conversation, gentle satire, slapstick, and passion. For more information, please call Clint Mahle at729-6007.,p/>
