New Northwest Florida Symphony Chorale Announces Auditions

Mattie Kelly Arts Center

7/18/2011 - Northwest Florida State College and the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra (NFSO) announce the formation of the new Northwest Florida Symphony Chorale and auditions for the group's upcoming 2011-2012 performance season. This select choral group will perform with the NFSO as well as independent concerts.

"We’re re-inventing the current Symphony Chorus with a new name and focus to be more in keeping with similar groups from across the nation," noted NWFSC music professor Lois Van Dam, who will direct the new choral group. "The Northwest Florida Symphony Chorale will perform with the orchestra for select concerts during the season, but we'll also prepare our own concerts and perform choral literature apart from the orchestra."

Vocalists from throughout the region are invited to audition for the new group on Tuesday August 23, and Wednesday August 24, beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the Tyler Recital Hall at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center on the college's Niceville campus. Interested singers should contact choral assistant Phyllis Lake at lakepa@cox.net to sign up for an audition time. Audition music will be provided prior to the audition dates. The group will rehearse on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 in the Tyler Recital Hall. For further information, contact Lois Van Dam at (850) 729-6009 or vandaml@nwfsc.edu.
