Auditions Nov. 14 & 15 for "Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up?"

Mattie Kelly Arts Center

10/28/2011 - Northwest Florida State College will hold auditions for the popular coming-of-age musical, Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up?, on Monday, November 14, and Tuesday, November 15, with sign-in at 6:00 p.m. and start time at 6:30 p.m. each night. The play will be presented March 14 to 17, 2012 in the Sprint Theater of the Mattie Kelly Fine and Performing Arts Center on the college's Niceville campus.

Touching and amusing, the play follows a delightful band of eight kids as they crisscross through that special place known as Catholic School in the late 1950's to early 1960's. It captures the funniest aspects of youthful growing pains and the trying moments of adolescence, from the start of elementary school through the senior prom and beyond, all under the watchful eyes of Father O'Reilly and the good Sisters.

Roles include four female and four male students, a priest, and three nuns. Auditions on November 14 will concentrate on music and dance and November 15 will focus on acting. Please prepare a short comic monologue no longer than one minute for the acting audition. There is no preparation needed for the music and dance portion. Please contact director Clint Mahle at 729-6007 or e-mail for more information.
