Mattie Kelly Arts Center

11/2/2011 - Henry Higgins, Eliza Doolittle and the rest of the iconic characters from My Fair Lady will transform the Mattie Kelly Arts Center at Northwest Florida State College into 1912 London when this Broadway classic appears for one show only on November 29 at 7:30p.m. The event is the first show of the 2011-2012 Broadway series of national touring musical productions to appear at the $25 million state-of-the-art performance venue located on the Niceville campus of Northwest Florida State College.

Tickets are on sale by phone, web or in-person from the Box Office for $45 each. There is a group discount of $5 off per ticket for group sales of 10 or more tickets. A 10 percent season discount is also available for patrons who purchase five or more national shows. A show photo and video gallery is available on the center's website. Click here to see the My Fair Lady program.

It's no accident My Fair Lady once held the record of longest running theatrical production in history. And, it's no wonder everyone - not just Henry Higgins - falls in love with Eliza Doolittle! A hit London production, a popular film version starring Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison that won eight Academy Awards, and more are part of the My Fair Lady legend. The national touring Broadway production of this timeless classic includes all the stunning Lerner and Loewe music including: "Wouldn't It Be Loverly?", "With a Little Bit of Luck," "The Rain in Spain," "I Could Have Danced All Night," "Get Me to the Church on Time" and more.

Hailed as the standard by which all other musicals are judged, this hit show is based on George Bernard Shaw's 1912 play Pygmalion and will transport audiences to Edwardian London and one of the most beautiful stories ever told about language and clash of cultures. It follows the relationship between Eliza Doolittle, a Cockney flower girl, and the snobbish and misogynistic Professor Henry Higgins, a phoneticist, who wagers that he can turn Eliza into a "proper lady" in three months' time.

When the show first opened on Broadway in 1956, starring Rex Harrison and Julie Andrews, critics described it as "legendary" and "one of the greatest musicals of the century." My Fair Lady went on to win six TONY Awards, and, in 1961, became the longest-running production in Broadway history at that time. My Fair Lady is sure to be an unforgettable experience with beautiful music and exquisite costumes that will remind theatre-goers as to why musical theater was born.

All 1,650 seats in the main theater at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center are no more than 90 feet from the stage - making every seat "the best seat in the house" at the performance venue which is located on the eastern edge of the Niceville campus of Northwest Florida State College at 100 College Boulevard. The center is just minutes from Interstate 10 or the mid-Bay Bridge, and is easily accessible to patrons from surrounding communities.

The 2011-12 national touring production that will appear at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center is produced by Big League Productions, Inc. from New York City which has been touring great Broadway musicals and attractions worldwide since 1991. For more information visit: www.MyFairLadyOnTour.com
