Tony Award Winner Monty Python’s SPAMALOT - February 24

Mattie Kelly Arts Center

2/6/2012 - The nationally touring production of the Tony Award-winning comedy musical, Monty Python's Spamalot, appears February 24 at 7:30 pm at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center at Northwest Florida State College in Niceville. Limited tickets remain for this Broadway Series event and the show is anticipated to sell out, according to Dr. Cliff Herron, executive director for the center.

Tickets are $45 each and are available by phone, web or in-person from the Box Office. A group discount of $5 off per ticket is available for group sales of 10 or more tickets. The Box Office is open Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Call (850) 729-6000 or purchase online at

Lovingly "ripped-off" from the internationally famous comedy team's most popular motion picture, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Monty Python's Spamalot is the winner of three 2005 Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Director (Mike Nichols), as well as the Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle awards for Best Musical. The original cast recording of Monty Python's Spamalot won the 2006 Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album.

The smash hit tells the legendary tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, and their quest for the Holy Grail in a way that "raises silliness to an art form," according to critics, who noted the show is "A high energy blast, you'll leave the theatre whistling!" (Boston Herald). Just imagine a chorus line of dancing divas and knights, flatulent Frenchmen, killer rabbits and one legless knight and you're on your way to an unforgettable evening of pure Monty Python humor.

Based on the Tony Award winning direction of Mike Nichols and the riotous choreography of Casey Nicholaw, Monty Python's Spamalot features a book by Eric Idle, based on the screenplay of Monty Python and the Holy Grail by Monty Python creators Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin, with music and lyrics by the Grammy Award-winning team of Mr. Idle and John Du Prez. Monty Python's Spamalot is produced by Stephen B. Kane, Michael McFadden and Phoenix Entertainment.

Monty Python isn't a person, but a group of British actors and writers (and one American) that performed their famous comedy show Monty Python's Flying Circus on the BBC from 1969 to 1974, with subsequent international fame and success.

The Mattie Kelly Arts Center is located on the eastern edge of the college's Niceville campus of at 100 College Boulevard. The center is just minutes from Interstate 10 or the Mid-Bay Bridge, and is easily accessible from surrounding communities.
