Creative Dramatics - Camp Glee at NWF State

Mattie Kelly Arts Center

5/11/2012 - The Fine and Performing Arts Division at Northwest Florida State College will offer a Creative Dramatics summer workshop titled "Camp Glee!" from June 4 to July 3 for students from rising 8th grade through college age. Participants will learn about choreography, acting, voice, makeup and staging and will star in Once on this Island on July 3 at the college's Mattie Kelly Fine and Performing Arts Center. The play, set in the Caribbean, centers around a peasant girl on a tropical island who uses her love and devotion to bring people from different social classes into unity.

The "Camp Glee" workshop meets from 9:00 am to 1:45 pm, Monday through Thursday, at the college's Niceville campus and is taught by Allison Everitt, NWFSC voice professor, Uli Dunbar, NWFSC dance professor, as well as Christa Whittaker, drama instructor at Fort Walton Beach High School and NWFSC. No prior experience in theater is required to participate in this program.

Dual Enrollment credit is available to qualified high school students who may be eligible to take the Creative Dramatics class free of charge if they qualify for dual enrollment. All dual or concurrent students must enroll through the Dual/Concurrent Office in the Student Services Center (SSC) on the Niceville campus. Students who have never been enrolled at NWFSC should complete NWFSC admissions either on-line or in-person at any NWFSC location and enroll in NWFSC course numbers DAA 1580-80544 (Musical Theater Dance I) and THE2820-80812 (Creative Dramatics I). For more information on Creative Dramatics contact Diana Jernigan in the NWFSC Fine Arts Office at 729-5382.
