Mattie Kelly Arts Center Galleries New Exhibition – October 28 – November 30

Mattie Kelly Arts Center

10/18/2012 - The Pastel Society of North Florida presents its twelfth Biennial National Exhibition in the Mattie Kelly Arts Center's McIlroy and Holzhauer Galleries at Northwest Florida State College in Niceville from October 28 to November 30. This competitive exhibition, held every two years, attracts top artistic talent from across the United States and features fifty-nine artists from fourteen states who work in soft pastels. Many of the artists' works will be available to the public for purchase.

An awards reception honoring the artists will be held in the Galleries on Sunday, October 28 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and is open to the public. A ceremony presenting an award for Best in Show and other prizes will be held at 3:00 p.m. Gallery hours for the exhibition are Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and 90 minutes prior to most Mattie Kelly Arts Center theatrical performances. The Mattie Kelly Arts Center Gallery exhibitions and reception are free and open to the public.

This year's juror and judge of awards is Richard McKinley, Pastel Society of America Hall of Fame Honoree and Pastel Society of the West Coast Pastel Laureate. His work is represented in several national galleries and is in the permanent collection of the Butler Institute of American Art. McKinley has been a professional working artist for 38 years and has over 35 years of teaching experience, and his work has been published in numerous pastel magazines and journals, books, and instructional DVDs.

The Mattie Kelly Arts Center is located at 100 College Boulevard on the eastern edge of the college's Niceville campus. For information, contact the Gallery office at (850) 729-6044 or artgalleries@nwfsc.edu.
