11/20/2014 - “A White Tie Holiday” Youth Orchestra & White Tie Rock Ensemble Present Joint Christmas Concert Featuring Music of Trans-Siberian Orchestra

Have a “White Tie Holiday” with the Northwest Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra (NFSYO) on Sunday, December 7 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center as the NFSYO welcomes back the White Tie Rock Ensemble of Pensacola for a Christmas music extravaganza featuring the music of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, holiday tunes, favorite holiday movie moments, a carol sing-a-long, and multimedia light show.

The event is Free of Charge with donations accepted at the door to support the youth orchestra programs of Northwest Florida State College. The concert will be held in the mainstage theater at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center on the Niceville campus of Northwest Florida State College at 100 College Boulevard, East.

The Northwest Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra’s “White Tie Holiday” concert will feature performance of holiday fare such as Wizards in Winter, A Mad Russians Christmas, The March of the Kings - Hark the Herald Angels Sing, Christmas Eve in Sarajevo, Dreams of the Fireflies, Miraculum, O Come All Ye Faithful - O Holy Night, Deck the Halls and more. The NFSYO concert will be conducted by Brian Brown, who also serves as principal violist with the professional Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra.

The White Tie Rock Ensemble previously performed a popular Beatles music joint concert with the Northwest Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra this past May as part of the college’s 50th anniversary celebration. The group’s “White Tie Holiday” event will also be performed in joint concert with the Escambia County Youth Orchestra.

The White Tie Rock Ensemble is comprised of five professional musicians of guitar, drums, bass, keyboard and vocals who reproduce the classic rock sounds of the 1960’s, ‘70’s and ‘80’s throughout northwest Florida and South Alabama. The group’s founder Jonathan Clark is also trained as a classical musician and heads the Escambia County Youth Orchestra programs.

Northwest Florida State College sponsors and fully supports a wide variety of youth in the arts endeavors, as well as arts instruction and cultural opportunities specifically designed for youth, including the youth and junior orchestra programs. The Northwest Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra (NFSYO) was founded under the auspices of the college in 1998 through a grant from the Northwest Florida Symphony Guild and is comprised of talented middle, high school and college age musicians. The NFSYO works in conjunction with the college’s Fine and Performing Arts Division and the professional Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra, which performs in residence at the college. For enrollment information contact the NWF State College Continuing Education at (850) 729-6084 or see www.NFSYO.org

The Mattie Kelly Arts Center is located on the Niceville campus of NWF State College at 100 College Boulevard and is easily accessible via Interstate 10, State Highways 285 and 85, and the Mid- Bay Bridge or new Mid-Bay Connector toll road.
