Trey Gowdy Federal and State Prosecutor

Trey Gowdy

February 4 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Trey Gowdy

Trey Gowdy was a federal and state prosecutor for 16 years prosecuting the full range of crime including murder, homicide by child abuse, armed robbery, kidnapping, carjacking and the murder of a federal witness. He was recognized statewide for excellence in domestic violence and drunk driving prosecutions, nationally for excellence in death penalty litigation, and by victim groups for his
unfailing commitment to victim rights.

As a prosecutor he also ran diversion programs, expanded Drug Court, and implemented a Protocol for expectant mothers addicted to controlled substances.

In 2011, Trey left the courtroom for congress where he served for 8 years participating in the some of our country’s most significant and high profile investigations. He served on the Committees on Judiciary, Oversight and Government Reform, Intelligence, Ethics, and Education and the Workforce. His floor speeches and witness examinations garnered national attention but he also made deep friendships with colleagues on both sides of the aisle and in both the House and Senate.

In 2018 he co-authored a book titled “Unified” with his best friend in all of politics, Senator Tim Scott. Their book was a New York Times bestseller.

Also, in 2018 he announced he would not seek re-election to congress. Instead, he would return to South Carolina to practice law and hopefully grow old with his wife of 30 years, Terri, who is a first-grade school teacher. They have two children Watson and Abigail and three dogs: Jury, Bailiff and Dallas.
