Welcome to the Mattie Kelly Arts Center Galleries & Collection at Northwest Florida State College!

The Mattie Kelly Arts Center Galleries invite everyone on the Emerald Coast to discover a wide range of cultural experiences. As a creative classroom for Northwest Florida State College, our 2,700-square-foot of fine arts exhibition space in the McIlroy, Holzhauer, and Hallway Galleries at Building 110 on the Niceville Campus is filled with inspiring fine arts programs.

The Galleries protect thousands of artworks and artifacts, ranging from ancient amphorae to Salvador Dalí watercolors. We also house the world’s largest collection of paintings by Emil Holzhauer, a well-known German expressionist master painter and a member of the New York Ashcan School Movement.

MKAC also curates the Doolittle Raid World War II History Permanent Exhibition at Raider Sports Arena and the Congressman Robert L.F. Sikes Museum & Collection at the Crestview Center. Visitors are welcome to schedule tours and site visits, and we offer mentoring opportunities. Our volunteer and internship program lets you serve as a docent, care for artifacts, connect with artists, and get hands-on experience in the arts. Our Mission:

The Mattie Kelly Arts Center Galleries support the educational mission of Northwest Florida State College through engaging programs. As a center for arts and culture on the Emerald Coast, our galleries feature exhibitions that highlight accomplished artists in many styles and media, while also preserving and sharing important historical stories. The MKAC Galleries are a valued cultural resource for the Emerald Coast.

About Galleries

McIlroy Gallery

The McIlroy Gallery welcomes visitors into an immersive art experience. With soft natural light and 18-foot ceilings, it is a peaceful place to explore works. The McIlroy family generously donated this space through the Northwest Florida State College Foundation.

Holzhauer Gallery

The Holzhauer Gallery is named for Emil Holzhauer, who donated his collection and taught many local artists. This gallery offers an intimate space for guest artists’ exhibitions, giving visitors a rare chance to see world-famous works up close.

Hallway Gallery:

The Hallway Gallery is 21 feet long, lit with both natural and gallery lighting. This gallery is our smallest of the three art galleries, and it is the first one people see as they walk by Building 110.
