Congressman Robert L. F. Sikes Collection
The MKAC Galleries preserves the historical, personal, and professional artifacts of Robert L. F. Sikes, the longest-serving congressman in Florida’s 1st Congressional District, who played a significant role in shaping the region.
Emil Holzhauer Collection
In 1967, German Expressionist and New York Ashcan School painter Emil Holzhauer resided in Niceville, painting many local landmarks and people, leaving a lasting impact on regional culture. He bequeathed the majority of his artwork, including over 400 paintings and his studio papers, to the College. As a result, Northwest Florida State College holds the most extensive single collection of Holzhauer’s work and retains the copyright for his image use.
Harmuth Mask Collection
Northwest Florida State College received this collection in 1998 as a gift from the estates of Dr. Henning and Anne Harmuth of Destin, Florida. Over nearly 40 years, the Harmuths traveled internationally, studying local cultures and acquiring works from proprietors and artisans on every continent except Antarctica.
L.R. Davis Early American Flint Glass Goblet Collection
Lachlan R. Davis of Destin, originally from Washington, D.C., bequeathed his Flint Glass Goblet Collection to Northwest Florida State College in 1994. The collection comprises over 330 goblets made from locally sourced materials, assembled between 1950 and 1993. It is regarded as one of the most comprehensive collections of its kind in the United States.
Marie Snow Greene Collection
The Marie Snow Greene Collection includes paintings, prints, and drawings by Marie Snow Greene, as well as archival materials and artworks she collected. Greene was a watercolor artist and local art instructor who studied extensively with Emil Holzhauer.
M.J. Davis Bellflower Pattern Pressed Glass Collection
Mildred J. Davis donated her extensive collection of Bellflower-pattern pressed glass to Northwest Florida State College in 1994. The Davis Bellflower Collection features glassware with intricate designs of flowers, vines, tendrils, and incised lines. The collection is complete except for two goblets that Davis was unable to locate.
Salvador Dalí Collection
In 1999, collector Dotty Blacker donated a complete suite of 100 Dalí woodblock prints to Northwest Florida State College. Commissioned by the Italian government in 1951, these prints are based on Dalí’s 100 watercolor illustrations of Dante Alighieri’s early fourteenth-century masterpiece, The Divine Comedy.
Sublette New Guinea Collection
In 1994, Alvah T. Sublette, Jr., of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, donated a 300-piece New Guinea Art Collection to Northwest Florida State College. All items were acquired in the Sepik River region of Papua New Guinea or from sites along the Gulf of Papua.
